All-Russian Scientific Research Institute Signal (VNII Signal) Joint Stock Company is one of the largest companies located in Kovrov, which is engaged in R&D and manufacturing activities in the field of military hardware for about sixty years.
In 2013 VNII Signal won regional competition "The Best Company of Vladimir Region". In 2014 the Institute was commended for its activities by the Government of Russian Federation.
VNII Signal belongs to High-Precision Systems holding of Rostec State Corporation.
VNII Signal performs research and development in the following areas:
- Artillery fire-control systems;
- Land/marine/airborne laying and stabilization systems;
- Navigation and survey systems;
- Hydrostatic transmissions, electrohydraulic control systems and hydraulic machines;
Since 2013 VNII Signal has been engaged in a new activity - research and development of robotic systems. Within this activity VNII Signal started R&D to create robotic systems in cooperation with several leading technical universities of Russia.
VNII Signal provides pilot and serial production of new unique systems and equipment for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and also pays much attention to the development of export business.
For the last five years the production and economic facilities of the company have been under extensive renovation, which results in the implementation of modern efficient equipment, new technologies and information systems.
The Council of Young Engineers and Workers of VNII Signal takes part in R&D, organizes festivals, cultural events and sports competitions.
The Ministry of Education and Science of the RF grants annually special vacancies to enter national leading universities such as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MIET National Research University of Electronic Technology, Baltic State Technical University named after D.F. Ustinov (Voenmeh) and others.
The number of VNII Signal staff grows up annually as the production volume increases. Today VNII Signal JSC employs more than 2000 people.
Since 2013 once every two years Russian Scientific and Technical Conference on Navigation is arranged in Suzdal. During this conference leading experts and researchers of Russian defence companies and research institutes make reports and discuss them on the topic of the development of land navigation, orientation and survey systems as well as motion control systems for land vehicles.
